2019 Volkswagen Arteon Drive Systems
Front-wheel drive is standard on the 2019 Volkswagen Arteon. The 4Motion all-wheel drive system is available on the SE and SEL models. SEL Premium trim levels of the 2019 Arteon include the 4Motion system as standard equipment.
Volkswagen’s 4Motion all-wheel drive system utilizes advanced control function to activate before the wheels even begin to slip. When coasting or under low load, the rear wheels are decoupled to help improve fuel economy but can be engaged in a fraction of a second if needed.
Both drive systems will carry power from the same 2.0-liter turbocharged TSI engine. Performance numbers for this engine check in at 268 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque.
Fuel economy ratings for the front-wheel drive Arteon check in at 22 miles per gallon in the cities and 31 mpg on the highways for 25 mpg combined. Arteon models utilizing the 4Motion all-wheel drive system check in at 20 mpg city and 27 mpg highways for 23 mpg combined.
All 2019 Arteon models come equipped with a Start/Stop System designed to improve fuel economy ratings.
