I filled my tires, but the pressure light won’t go off: Why?
How to reset your VW Tire Pressure Monitoring System
It may not be the worst thing in the world, but it can be annoying when you have a warning light illuminating your dashboard. It’s a small, yellow light, always sitting at the edge of your vision when you glance down to check your speed or your fuel levels. If you’ve already filled the tires in your vehicle, it can be even more frustrating when the TPMS light won’t shut off. In case you don’t know, that’s the exclamation warning light that sits in the middle of an odd U-shape. We’re here to teach you how to reset your VW Tire Pressure Monitoring System, so you can stop worrying about it while you’re on the road.
Is the Volkswagen TPMS system supposed to turn off automatically?
If you don’t normally fill your tires yourself, you may think there’s something wrong with the sensors that trigger the warning light. You filled the tires, so why won’t they turn off? Make sure your tires are at the proper inflation, which will be listed either in your door jamb, on the gas lid, or even on the tires themselves. After this, you can reset the system light, which does not turn off all by itself.

How to turn off the TPMS light in your Volkswagen
The exact process for turning off the system will differ depending on the model and year of your vehicle. It should work one of two ways. In some vehicle you’ll find a tiny button located in the glove box, which can be found in the top left. Once you find it, simply press and hold until you hear a beep, which should only take about two seconds. Your vehicle might also have this button near the gear shifter, but if it’s in plain sight we hope you didn’t miss it.
If you have an infotainment system in your vehicle, you aren’t likely to find this button. Instead, you’ll have to go through the system menus to find the reset. Press the car menu on the right, click setup, then tires. Under Tire Pressure Monitoring System, simply press the set button.
