Which new 3-Row SUV has the most cargo room in Middletown, NY?

The 2021 Volkswagen Atlas stands out in its very competitive automotive segment for several reasons. It offers a wide range of standard features, a pair of powertrains that produce plenty of power and, of course, a lot of interior space. So, which new three-row SUV has the most cargo room in Middletown, NY? Well, the 2021 VW Atlas would be on the list, but how does the Volkswagen crossover compare to other three-row crossover platforms. Our team did a small research project to hold the 2021 Atlas up to a couple of competitors, and, spoiler alert, the Volkswagen crossover SUV offered more interior space than both of them. Let’s take a closer look at what our team came up with.

2021 VW Atlas versus the Kia Sorento

A head-to-head comparison between the 2021 VW Atlas vs. Kia Sorento.

This is an interesting head-to-head battle. Both the 2021 Atlas and Kia Sorento are available with a four-cylinder and V-6 engine. Each power plant equipped under the hood of the 2021 Atlas will produce more power than the corresponding engine platform used by the Sorento. A 2021 Atlas with the turbocharged 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine can pull up to 2,000 pounds and an Atlas with the V-6 can tow 5,000 pounds. While both crossover SUVs in this comparison have interior space for seven passengers, the 2021 Atlas will be able to offer up to 96.8 cubic-feet of maximum cargo volume, easily dwarfing the 73 cubic-feet offered by the Sorento.

2021 VW Atlas versus the Kia Telluride

A head-to-head photo of the 2021 VW Atlas vs. Kia Telluride.

The Volkswagen Atlas and Kia Telluride are going to be fierce rivals for as long as both vehicles are being produced by their respective automakers. People who choose to take the Telluride home may be able to brag about making more than 290 horsepower, compared to the 276-horsepower made by the 3.6-liter, V-6 that the 2021 Atlas uses. However, both vehicles have a maximum towing capacity of 5,000 pounds. As we know, interior cargo volume is the name of the game when it comes to evaluating three-row crossover SUVs. The Kia Telluride can make up to 87 cubic-feet available when its rear two rows of seats are folded away. As mentioned earlier, the 2021 VW Atlas offers a maximum of 96.8 cubic-feet of cargo volume.
