Below you’ll find instructions for connecting wirelessly and via USB. 

How to Connect to Volkswagen Apple CarPlay Via USB

  1. Download the Apple CarPlay app from the App Store.
  2. Plug your iPhone into a USB port using a certified Lightning cable.
  3. A screen will appear, alerting you a new device has been connected. Select “Connect” on the screen to continue.
  4. Select “Allow” on your phone screen.
  5. Apple CarPlay will now be connected, and apps can be selected through the infotainment screen.

How to Connect to Volkswagen Apple CarPlay Wirelessly

  1. Pair your phone with the Volkswagen Multimedia System and Bluetooth. This is found on the Volkswagen infotainment screen in your car. On your phone, you’ll find your Bluetooth syncing options under “Settings.” 
  2. The vehicle and phone may ask permission to sync with one another – if they do, select “yes” on both. Allow your phone to share your contacts and multimedia with the Volkswagen Multimedia System. 
  3. When prompted, select “Apple CarPlay” on the touchscreen and select the app you’d like to use. Alternatively, you may also use voice command if you’d prefer it for safety and convenience. 

How to Connect to Volkswagen Android Auto Step by Step

How to Connect to Volkswagen Android Auto Via USB

  1. Download the Android Auto app and start it on your phone. 
  2. Plug the phone into the USB port. It is recommended to use the cable that came with the phone.
  3. Press the “App” button on the infotainment touchscreen and select “Android Auto” to begin.
  4. Select “OK” when the data transfer screen appears to continue.
  5. A confirmation message will now appear on your phone screen. Select “Allow” to continue.

How to Connect to Volkswagen Android Auto Wirelessly

  1. Select the Android Auto App on your infotainment touchscreen
  2. Open the Bluetooth options on your phone via the settings. Select “sync” or “pair,” depending on the phone. 
  3. Follow any additional prompts on your phone and the infotainment screen. 
  4. You’ll be asked to accept the Terms of Use before finishing the pairing. 
  5. Accept, and make sure the connection works.
